Samurai Sudoku, or Gattai-5, combines five classic 9×9 grids. Each outer grid shares one 3×3 corner box with the central grid, so a value in an overlap must satisfy the row, column and box rules of both grids. This solver processes the five boards as one connected puzzle.
The same physical overlap belongs to two grids. A clue copied inconsistently into that area can invalidate both boards and may cause a failure far from the original mistake.
If the clues are compatible, the tool fills the empty cells with one completion that respects all five 9×9 grids and their shared boxes. It does not offer individual hints, describe inter-grid deductions or present a human-style step sequence.
The first completion found is not proof that the Samurai puzzle has exactly one solution. The tool does not count alternative completions or certify a puzzle for publication. Creators need a separate uniqueness test, especially when the starting grid contains few clues.
Check duplicates inside each outer grid, then inspect every shared box from both directions. Finally compare the central grid with the source. Transposed clues and mismatched overlap values are the most important errors to eliminate before concluding that the original puzzle is unsolvable.
